Hi Linda,

I am not using a spinal cord stimulator at all...I have used both Neurontin and Lyrica without any success - I was on them for about a year each (different times) and now the Dr.s are trying Lamictal, which is also in the same range as Neurontin and Lyrica but supposedly a new level.

I don't know what it will do but its a new option and I'm all for new options.

Are you also taking opiods (narcotics) with the Neurontin?  With the Lamictal I am also still taking Oxycodone long acting (40mg) 1x a day plus Oxycodone 30mg 2pills 5x a day.

Also - what level of meds are you taking?  When I was on Neurontin I was taking 900 mgs 3x a day.  It took some time to get up to that level - 1 of the 300 mg pills three times a day, then 2of them 3x a day and then 3 of them 3x a day.  If I remember correctly it was about 1 week for each dosage change, or maybe 2 weeks.  I just know that they have to be stepped up slow and DEFINITELY step down very slowly.  Please please please do not just stop them or go down very fast because the chance of seizure for you will be incredibly high. If your doctor doesn't tell you or has you step down from a high dosage very quickly just know that you can't do that without a risk.

Good luck - : ) Donna

Hello Donna,

Have you had the Spinal Cord Stimulator implanted in your hip?  A Chiropractor once told me he believed the pain I have is in fact coming from

my back where all the nerve endings are located.  If there are people on this site who have the Spinal Cord Stimulator and it is helpng with the pain, please, please, let me know!

So Donna, are you using Lyrical (sp?), Lyrica?  If so, is it helping your nerve pain?  I used it once and I didn't find that it helped but instead it gave me hot and cold feeling and I couldn't sleep.  I'm using Neurontin but it makes me drowsy and doesn't help much anymore.

Linda
