She does need a doctors treatment. Have you tried going for a 2nd opinion on your mother? If not, do so. 2 heads are better than 1. But don't wait too long. She should also probably be a diet of Assure or a highly concentrated formula as well as maybe drinking some Pedialyte, but you should check with a doctor first. If they perform a laparoscopy it's minimally invasive and hopefully can handle any problem she has this way, but you don't want to wait..... I am having a terrilbe time with my mother who is 83 years old. In May she was rushed to the hospital throwing up and diareah after eating Fried Chicken. After taking numerous tests they found a total obstruction of the small intestines and did an emergency surgury......
