Hi Susan,

I live in metro Detroit and am interested in hearing more about your doctors. My primary doc is out of Beaumont, but since my orignial surgeon retired almost 10 years ago, they have been useless to me.

I have been to U of M and see a gastroenterolgist names Laurel Fisher, but even she doesn't understand the implications of adhesions. I fortunately have found a new surgeon out of St. John in Detroit who does laparascopy lysis of adhesion for me.

I would love to hear more about your docs, though as I haven't been able to find one who actually understands what I'm going through. I am almost 48 years old and have been sick since my teens. I had ulcerative colitis as a teenager and a subsequent ileostomy and ever since then I've been in a world of hurt over these damn adhesions.

Please email me directly at carynlruzich@comcast.net. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,

Caryn

I have Severe Pelvic Adhesive Disease, facing my 18th or 19th surgery in 25 years....hard to hold a job, lost my home, cars, savings, inability to have children, etc. Suffered many complications as result of hospitalizations and surgeries (sent the priest in 2x for last rights), BUT, even so, I cannot agree more with Katie's response regarding the years of pain medication.

After a long history of ovarian cysts, endometriosis, adenomyosis, blood clots, adhesions and intestinal blockages due to adhesions, I have found 2 wonderful physicans NOT so interested in medicating and who do NOT think it is in my head. 1) Dr. Dodds, Providence Hospital in Southfield Michigan, 2) Dr. Advincula at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan.

They saved my life! If you can get to Michigan, schedule an appointment with either of them!

Good luck and wish me luck with my next surgery!

Susan
