Those suffering from psychosomatic symptoms or illnesses need to find solutions or new coping strategies to deal with the thoughts, attitudes, feelings and emotions that contributed to their dis-ease. People who suffer from psychosomatic illnesses should not feel guilty or blame themselves for being ill, however. In most cases they have reacted to the stresses in their lives using the coping methods that came most naturally to them. There is no shame in doing that, but new ways of coping or reacting to stress can be learned and can reduce the impact of stress on the body.
