Dear Pam, I had a hysterectomy done 4 years ago. I was told I was not a canadate for a vaginal procedure. I was hemmoraging monthly due to very large fibroids. At least this is what I was told was causing it. A week after my surgery I was back in the hospital with a complete bowel obstruction and illius. I have suffered every day since with abdominal adhesions. Two years after the hysto I was back in "emergency" surgery for another complete bowel obstruction. That was two years ago. I do not believe I would be in the shape I am in now had I been given the option to have it done vaginally. Why do you need to have it done? First choice, avoid surgery at all costs. Get as much information as possible. Educate yourself. I had never heard of adhesions before my surgery. They never mentioned them. Now I know more than I ever wanted to know. I also had had one ovary removed 15 years before and 2 c-sections without any complicatios from adhesions. It was the hystorectomy that changed it all. I hope this helps. Meg
