Dear Gwen Methadone is used as a pain medication. The percoset can be used for break through pain. I just recently went from MS Contin to the Duragesic pain patch & I have cut down on the vicodin 10 mg for the break through pain. I don't know about the withdrawl on many meds, for me I haven't had too much trouble comming off the meds after surgery. Usually after 2 or 3 weeks after surgery, I am totally off pain meds. My Dr has always told me when it was time to come off, she would help me do it, but I have always been able to do it on my own. My Dr has always told me not to worry about it. I think worrying about it just adds that much more stress. robin
