Cheryl,

In Bev's search to get help for adhesions she found information that dated back to 1932 that was the result of some government funded research I believe, that gave a detailed report on what needed to be done to prevent adhesions. The information has been available for years. It isn't just that doctors are just learning about adhesions.....its that they are just now beginnning to pay attention. You were lucky to have been warned about the potentials of adhesions forming with your surgeries. Out of the 50+ surgeries that I have had in my life....and particularly the last 28...I was never warned about adhesions....even when they knew how badly I had them before going in. Heck, my doctors didn't even mention adhesions as being a problem other than how awful it was opening me up everytime I needed surgery because the adhesions were "the worst they had ever seen". Does that sound familiar to anyone? What I find interesting is how so many people have doctors who refuse to do surgery because their adhesions are so bad....I never once had them refuse to do surgery for that reason....I still don't. They are refusing because of other problems. Maybe if they had said they wouldn't do surgery years ago when the adhesions were that bad I wouldn't be in this boat that I am in.
