Having an Oxycontin problem - there wasn't one

I don't post often anymore BUT people like this are irritating to me too, and I just HAD TO put my 2 cents in this time!!! I agree with you Helen C. and I do think there is a way to delete poor Chrissie's original post although she didn't do anything wrong or imply anything bad. I guess the administrator has to do it though with her permission. Chrissie didn't take the drug to feed an addiction and was just confused and scared of stopping the medication because she was afraid of "her pain" returning "from adhesions" or that "she still had" the pain, therefore still "needing the drug for PAIN".

It is the people who are "searching" for fellow addicts on a support group for people with pain that are doing wrong. They are "searching" for things like this and trying to make something out of nothing.

It is all this negativity about the drug (which has been produced because of "druggies") is what puts unnecessary fear into innocent people's minds! It is a wonderful drug for people with legitimate pain, especially people who's body won't tolerate other drugs. In my opinion it has much less side affects than most other drugs and DOESN'T fog your brain as many others do when taken correctly and in normal doses and actually helps your pain.

I am sure there are boards for addicts if these people truly want to help addicts!! This man is "admitting" he "abused" the drug and was even "shooting" them (his words)!!! There is a BIG difference there from someone who is taking them as prescribed "for pain" and NOT abusing them!! We don't even know if this man ever actually took them for pain, but irregardless of how or why he started taking them......he still "abused" them, therefore asking for trouble and creating it of his own free will!

We are people in PAIN, not addicts! Like everywhere they may be addicts on here but that IS NOT the general rule! This IS a SUPPORT GROUP for people in pain, not addicts. It is like strangers who are or were addicts are "searching" for this stuff.

I for one have NEVER done illegal drugs and NEVER abuse my medication and take it ONLY as prescribed as I am sure MOST people do. We may be "dependant" on our medications "to help our pain", but there is a big difference in being "dependant" and being"addicted"! People with asthma, diabetes and heart disease are also "dependant" on their medication!!!!!!!! JEAN

Why does this post keep coming up when it is almost two years old and there was not a problem with addiction, but this person's pain was returning and she was confused if she was having pain from surgery or from getting off the oxycontin.

I hope I worded this correctly Chrissie, and not stepping on your toes, but this post keeps bugging me to no end and there needs to be a stop to it. I hope that you agree with me as it's none of my business but I just don't understand why it keeps popping up time and time again. Why would someone, once again, go through the archives from 2000 and dig this up?

Since this is not my post, but a beloved friend of mine, I have no right to ask that this be taken off the board, but, with permission, perhaps this is the best thing to do with this e-mail as it keeps getting pulled up time and time again and being misconstrued as there being a drug addiction problem at that time. Perhaps we should ask the moderator to just take it off the board. Chrissy, let me know your thoughts on this?
