Hi Jeanne and welcome to the board. One of the best ways to educate yourself and answer maney of your question is so read through our personal experiences that are posted on the Adhesion Quilt. Also, you might enter "surgery" into the search for archived message board posts.

My first surgery involved the removal of 18" of colon, I have had 2 adhesiolysis procedures since then with adhesions and increase in pain and symptoms each time. My last surgery was with Dr.'s Reich and Redan at the Scranto Adhesions Center. While I think they are excellent docs and I would return to see them when I just can't take it anymore, the surgery did not prevent the adhesions from reforming.

Full Catastrophe Living is an excellent book for helping those who live with chronic pain regain your quality of life, and to pick up a copy would be the best advice I could give you on where to start.

Much love and hugs,

Janet
