obtaining medical records

When I had to get my medical records, it never cost me one penny. I received my entire medical record from my gyn. office and they didn't charge me anything. The only place I got charged for my records was at the hospital and it came to $54 for approx. 125 pages worth of records, tests results and hospital stays. So the fee your doctor is charging sounds absolutely absurd. I am sure they have the right to charge what they feel, but that is going way overboard. You are entitled to your medical records, because they are yours to begin with. You should contact your state medical board in regards to what your rights are when obtaining your records.

I hope this helps.
