Elaine,

Adhesions can cause pain -- sometimes severe -- during colonoscopy. You can have this procedure done under general anesthesia. I do.

I say this because, having had one polyp removed, you really need to be watching for additional polyps BEFORE they turn to colon cancer. Most colorectal cancer begins as a benign polyp and can be prevented just by removing the polyps.

However, having gone through the pain of the colonoscopy, you are probably not too excited about another one. Ask for, and get, a general anesthetic.e
