Painful Bowel Movements from Adhesions....

Thanks all for your help and prompt replies to my post.

I called my doctor 1 week after my laparotomy to tell him that I could NOT walk or put any pressure on my right hip and leg for some reason. The pain was excruciating and radiated all the way down the side of my leg to my foot!! Is this normal after major surgery??? >>His reply was that was not in his field and to call my PCP or Orthopedist about it!! A couple days later, I started bleeding from my rectum and again called him, he told me that was NOT possible from the surgery he had done!! Thank God the bleeding stopped 2 days later, but I still don't know why I was bleeding from the rectum??? I get the distinct feeling that he doesn't want to hear from me about the surgery he performed.

I can't stand to have anything putting pressure on my abdomen and even have to remove my bra after a short while. It also feels as if I have a belt or band around my whole stomach area and I feel so bloated and look like I'm pregnant. Slender all over, except in the abdominal area. This is all so new for me (after having never been sick in my life, I'm 49) that it's starting to get me down and depressed and hoping that I don't have to have another surgery because of what my doctor said about the possible colostomy. Why would he predict such a dire consequence for me if I DID need surgery again?(Oh, by-the-way, he also performed the hysterectomy 2 years ago.) If the adhesions were that bad, why wouldn't he refer me to a specialist for it?? Especially for the bladder pain too. I'm just at a loss right now and don't mean to ramble on... There are just so many questions.... and I'm trying to get as much info as I can.

I am unfamiliar with some of the abbreviations such as TAH and lyse. What do they mean? Is lyse short for Adhesiolysis? I'm so glad I found this site, you all are GREAT!! I truly appreciate and thank you so much for your help!
