I am not a medical professional; but I have read that;

** When a surgeon does a diagnostic laparoscopy, this is the only purpose of the surgery - for a diagnosis!!! If surgery is warranted, then surgery is scheduled for another date.

** Surgeons generally limit their surgical expertise to their specialty. An gynecologic surgeon specializes in gynecological surgery. A gastro-intestinal GI) surgeon specializes in GI surgery.
