Tracy,

Sounds like you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (ibs). The symptoms are gas, nausea, diarrhea/constipation, gas, cramping and mucous in stool. I believe that it can be diagnosed with tests from your GI doctor so your gyn is right. Endo/Adhesions can be the cause but not always because some women I know have it and don't have endo problems and some men also get it. I can be triggered by certain foods and there is a theory that it is autoimmune (like they suspect endo).

I have IBS but I have adhesions on my intestines, I think it just happened at the same time - I don't think the adhesions had a large part in it. I think the autoimmune theory has some merit because I have other health problems too - allergy, asthma, etc. My immune system is susceptible - Last year I was babysitting a young child and she sneezed in my direction - it turned into strep throat in within 2 days. I try to avoid certain foods and I drink orange juice some to help my immune system but that is acidic and can cause you problems with IBS b/c acidic, caffeinated foods/drinks irritate the condition.

Hope this helps,

email me anytime.
