Hi Sue and welcome! I had a laparoscopy to remove my left ovary and tube in 1995. My symptoms were very similar to yours. I experienced pain during menstruation and severe pain at ovulation. I also had pain in the rectum esp. when sitting down. The tube and ovary had made one complex mass that was attached with numerous adhesions to the uterus as well as to the broad ligament. Unfortunately I had complications which required me to have a laparotomy the next day. It is my opinion that when the surgeon schedules a laparoscopy with the possibility of laparotomy, it is in everyones best interest. Especially people with a history of adhesions. Yhe doctors never know what they are going to find!!! If you have dense adhesions, most of the time I think it best to do the surgery via the laparotomy. There is probably less of a chance for complications. We have all been through surgery, and understand what you are going through with. Remember, you are not alone!!! Sherry
