This is exactly what my Gastro team says for me to do.  Low fiber, liquids, and vitamins.  Plus, pain mangement to help control the pain.  Only have surgery if absolutely necessay!  You do adjust. Maybe you could get referred to Pain Management.  Low residue diet helps but I know that's hard to follow.  Sounds like adhesions. They usually don't show up on scan's etc... Hopefully you can get some relief.
