Unfortunately, I don't think there is much you can do.  If you decide to have surgery, then someone that deals with them is a better route but there is no guarantee. I have gone to two specialists for surgeries and I am back to the same. I think the only option right now unless you need emergency surgery is to go to pain management and that doesn't really help the "sick" feelings and not all of the pain.  In other words, "It sucks." I just try to live a "normal life" as much as possible.  Some days when I get the partial obstructions, I think it is going to literally kill me but it goes away.  The thing that really gets to me is the 24/7 pain and sickness.  I do have a pain pump but it only helps so much.  It does by-pass the intestines so the constipation isn't worse. My daughter is going to medical school and I was looking at her book and guess what?  Nothing about adhesions...not surprising.

Hi All, I am hoping someone can help me find a doctor in my area who is familiar with adhesions.  I have had 6 abdominal surgeries and as a result suffer from partial bowel obstructions & severe pain from all of the adhesions.  I live in Ocean Twp New Jersey and can't find a specialist who deals with this.  All my other doctors say there is nothing they can do.  They just give me pain meds that I don't like to take, but sometimes I have no choice.  I hope someone can refer a doc to me.  Thanks so much!
