Hi Katie
Â
My surgen is going to 'release' my bowel. After a lap in June I was told that everything on in my right lower abdomen is 'stuck down'. I have multiple adhesions from the small bowel to the vault and an omental adhesion to the anterior abdominal wall. I also have ilil-inguinal nerve problems.
He organised for me to see a Gastroenterologist who then confirmed with my Pain consultant that a take down is necessary as my bowel is being twisted.
Â
I have a gyne surgen going in along side a bowel specialist. I know there are no gaurentee's that this surgery will work and I know It may make things work but the daily pain and feeling that I have a constant stomach bug has really brought me down - everyday life is so difficult - if I could just have a my bowel working properly that would be a result to me.
Â
I live in the UK and I think our health service is different to others.
Â
I know my consultant views my case as right to go in now before it gets any worse and my lead to emergency surgery. I am only sad that I am going to have a mid line Inscision to match my hyst - belly button straight down and 42 staples - but it was my choice - I could wait and see if it obstructs but why take that risk? I have a family to think of and this controlled way suits - if you know what I mean?!!
Â
Lots of hugs
Â

Hi Annemarie. Thank you for "stepping in". I appreciate any and all
information I can get at this point. :-)
You said that your surgeon is going to release your bowel before it
obstructs, correct? So is that to say that he believes that if they do
NOT release it, then it will most likely obstruct?
I have never had an obstruction that required emergency surgery but have
twice now been literally a gnat's butt away from going to the hospital
.. I was in soooo much pain! By the grace of God or whatever, I laid
on the bed and after about 2 hours the pain subsided. I was terrifed to
go to the hospital where I live because one of my doctors here told me
that if I have emergency surgery locally, that's when my real problems
will begin. He said they will open me up without regard for anything
other than saving my life and piece me back together and ship me out.
That makes me want to have surgery with Dr. Redan to release the colon
BEFORE that happens and hope (of course) that I'll never need another
surgery.
Sometimes I think about and question this all so much that it gives me a
headache. But hey, at least that is pain that I can take Tylenol for!
lol!
