Alice, I just had fluid drained from my abdomen as well.  Was feeling the same as youve described with pain all the time that worsened when I ate.  Couldn't seem to digest either.  Scans revealed a collection of fluid in the pelvis/abdomen.  They estimated 300ml would be drained...well it ended up being over 1300!  I've been in tremendous pain since the fluid removal experiencing painful spasms just under the diaphragm which they believe is from the procedure and think fluid may be re-accumulating.  It tested negative for everything...meaning it wasn't pancreatic, liver, or lymph.  They haven't ruled out infection yet...but I am not symptomatic. Due to the pain, they are admitting to the hospital most likely for further tests to find out why I can't eat, etc. Good luck.   Jeanne Surdo
