Kelly, My thoughts are with you and I do understand believe me. Once upon a time I was a full time nurse & my favorite hobby was travel and I can't do either anymore between pain (other symptoms) and the lack of money! Adhesions have taken away so many things from my life. I too am married and often wonder why my husband bothers....Neither him nor I had any idea what we were in for. My last hospitalization was 15 days for GI obstruction and he was next to me the entire time, I say this to emphasize what we need to be happy for. MANY times I just want to pull the covers over my head and say the hell with it but you can't. This is often difficult but we have to find a doctor that is willing to listen, take our health care into our hands and fight for the respect we deserve. Believe me many of us have been told the pain is in our heads many times. I am not saying therapy may not be a good option for you, we all need help at times but a person knows when they are in pain!! I found a site today , the Institute for Traditional Medicine in Portland Oregon and they have an extensive article about adhesions AND the use of Chinese medicine - herbs postoperatively etc. It was very interesting reading, you may want to check the site out. (I found it by accident really, I went into google and listed abdominal adhesions and it was the second listing.) I do not know where you live but search out a doctor specializing in Internal Medicine (if you haven't) and if you have keep searching and bring back up material with you if necessary. Remember it is your body!! Some women say they have better luck with female doctors understanding but I have had better luck with male MD's, my main MD and GYN are both male and gotten me through many difficult years due to the adhesions so don't count out the men just because of their gender. Good luck and feel free vent anytime, it's not a bad thing. Ann (Georgia)
