Daniel, I have had about 14 surgeries in 6 years---2 of them lysis for adhesions and one for a partial small bowel obstruction. I go to pain management, because no dr. wants to touch me because of my past history. I was referred to him by my surgeon and have been seeing him for over 3 years, so my answer would be yes, you should be referred. The pain meds do not take the pain away completely, but it is tolerable. I found this site 6 years ago, but haven't come here in a while. I hope that you find someone who is compassionate and accepts adhesions as a true disease, because it is painful, especially when I bend, stretch and even sitting because it pushes everything together---I'm very short-lol. Best of luck.
