Have you talked to the hospitals patient advocate? They can sometimes be very helpful in getting the professionals to listen. Tell the patient advocate that you're really considering backing out of the surgery because of the way things went during your preop consult and see if they can't help you get this straight.

Also, if you have a lot of allergies, have you been evaluated for stuff like mastocytosis, eosinophilic gastroenteritis and all those fun allergy things? You might need more pre surgery testing, as well. Is your allergist on board with all this? S/he needs to have input.

I tried to explain my allergies to the anesthesiologist the other day when >doing the preop stuff but he just looked at me like I was nuts and he >had the attitiude of " oh well once she is asleep I will do what I want >and she wont know hte difference.....
