Dear Amy, An open surgery is not the answer!! Laproscopic surgery is the best way to minimize more and new adhesions. Adhesions can form from many things. If you have endo, or any cysts on your ovaries, from any trauma, including seat belts, or blows to the area.

As far as recovery, you usually stay 3 days in the hospital. Usually the first 2 weeks, you do nothing, except walk some. It can take 6 months or more for you body to heal after surgery. Adhesions start with in 30 mins of surgery and continue to grow for about a week. After that time, they start to thinken and start to pull, that is what causes the pain. You can actually have adhesions with out having any pain.

Adhesions can be removed laproscopicly and I think you should find a surgeon that is experienced in removing adhesions laprocopicly and have an adhesion barrier used. Of course, I can not tell you what to do, I just want to give you some advice from someone that has "been there, done that". robin M
