Believe me, it is really hard to get an diagnosis of adhesions. Usually adhesion problems start after a surgery.

Most people go through numerous tests that come up negative for anything.

There is abdominal pain, constipation and some times diareah.

I also went to Mayo years ago before I had a diagnosis and was told I had IBS.

Usually people get diagnosed with adhesions when there is exploratory surgery to find the problem but then that usually causes more. I actually had exploratory surgery and adhesions were found to be the problem and the dr. never told me that they would come back so when I began having problems again, I thought it was something else. Looking back on all of my previous surgeries for other reasons, it was noted that I had adhesion disease but that dr. never explained it to me either.

You have to do your own research.

If he can get referred to a good pain management dr, at least maybe he can get some relief.

I have gone to the adhesion specialists for surgeries and have adhesions back, some people that have gone have claimed success. (8 surgeries with 3 for adhesions)He needs to make sure that he moves his bowels as constipation can cause more pain.

Good luck and tell your husband that he is not alone. Kelly

How do you know if you have intestinal adhesions?
