Exercise Helps w/Small Bowel Adhesions

I recently discovered that a brisk walk for about 30 minutes, once or
twice a day, helps me enormously. My condition is a small bowel damaged
by both radiation and adhesions, resulting in 3 areas that are "kinked",
kind of like a garden hose that is pinched and can only release tiny
amounts of water. There is also tethering of the small bowel and
adhesions in the pelvis. The small intestines are supposed to be sort
of free floating in the abdominal cavity. With the tethering at several
locations, this is impaired. Walking apparently stimulates movement of
the small bowel, and helps the flow of material from the stomach to pass
through. This greatly alleviates the bloating and pain.
If you're in too much pain to walk, consider lying on your left side in
the fetal position, if the problem lies with your small intestine. Then
as soon as you are able, take that walk! Even once a day helps me.
