Re: about medical records, help please

Dawn, Some I pick up....those would be the one's from my local hospital. The rest I just ask to have mailed. Of course, I always need to send a release of information first (actually, I have gotten away with not doing that too, but that always was with my doctors' records...never hospital records.) . It isn't as if I don't have extensive records either. I have more than ten files from my local doctor alone. We're talking each one bursting at the seams. I do not get the xrays....too much for me to handle. If the doctors ask for the xray itself, I go and pick them up. But, usually the reports themselves are good enough. I requested a copy of my medical records from January, in January and to date have still not gotten them. I phoned the office that handles release of information and the only hold up is apparently my doctor has not finalized the reports with his signature. I think I will wait awhile to request the one's from the month of February. Karla

I had one question. Are you asking them to send them to you? I always picked them up in person. Hope this helps. For most Ard sufferers it would cost a fortune to have records at that price. Its been so long since this was discussed on here, but I do believe that they cannot or just plain don't charge you if it is to seek further treatment. If they ask me for a name, I provide them with one if I have it, otherwise, I just say that I haven't gotten his name yet, but I want to present the records to him/her myself at my first appointment. Maybe this will help for you.

I'm no doctor, just a fellow sufferer like you but I hope you consider me a new friend.
