Dear Jeff and Janet, I have been on the duragesic patch for two months, with vicodin as a break thru back up; Effexor as an antidepressants; Neurotin for nerve pain; Tizanidine for muscle spasms and Bextra for arthritis...( It seems like a lot of meds, but this is the first time in over eight years that I have finally found one doctor to take care of all of my DIS-EASES and PAIN, it is the first time in years that I have continuous (almost) complete pain relief.

My understanding is that the duragesic patch is oxycountin delivered into the system continuously for 48 to 72 hours. Approximately 2.5 mg per hour it can either be increased after 6-8 months in strength or time period> My doctor has increased mine to every 48 hours a new patch. FYI>>>>

My question to both of you and any one else that is using this system; do you have skin irritations at the site of application. If so what do you do about it.

If any one needs any information on my illness I will be more than willing to share details, of my numerous diagnoses (finally I have received some reasonably explanations of having chronic pain for years; I was up to 20 -25 vicodins /Prozac 20mg a day with no relief of pain, and no understanding of my pains. More than 10 different specialists)

Thanks to Helen and this Board I have received enough information to share with my doctor and help with my treatment plan!
