Hi Sarah:

I'm sorry to hear of what you're experiencing, and wish there was some magic way to make all the pain go away. Unfortunately, we who have problematic adhesions, have to just get by the best we can.

Lillian is right, you need proper pain management right now, and once you get that things will improve. Although I don't suffer as badly as some people on this forum do, there are some things that I do that you may want to try and see if any of them help you.

As adhesion sufferers, we need to take charge of our situation. Yes, Drs and meds do help, and further surgeries if done by experts may help, but in the end it is you who lives in your body, and essentially you who can help yourself. Drink water, water, water. Then, when you can't stand water anymore, drink some nice tea, and then more water. I have proven this to myself so many times, you'd think I was just plain thick during the times I'd forget! Try to walk as much as you can. This keeps things moving. Go for short, gentle walks outside, and take the time to enjoy them...hum a song if it hurts to walk. Eventually, it will get better, and then you find that more days than not you are looking forward to the walk.

When the pain gets real bad, make yourself do something that you really have to concentrate on. As Lillian said, don't let yourself think about the pain. If you let yourself think about the pain, it will take you over, and you'll be back where you started again.

The only other thing I do to deal with this is I count my blessings. Believe it or not, it could be much, much worse. We have each other to talk to, and help us out when we are down. Ther are so many people out there who don't have a place to come to, and who suffer silently.

Sarah, please write back, let me know if you think I'm nuts :o) and let us know how you are doing now. Perhaps someone else will be able to help you more. We are here for you....

Wishing you pain free moments, hours and days.
