Dear Millie,
I have had abdominal pain similar to labor pains with contractions coming every
few minutes and no bowel movement. After several minutes or HOURS, the bowel
begins to move usually very small in size. Most of the time it continues with
pain until they get really loose. I too have been diagnosed with IBS. Because
I have days of constipation. I had a tubal ligation in 1973 and then a vaginal
removal of my womb in 1974 because of tubal pelvic pain. Ever since these
sugeries, I have had stomach problems. I have asked each GI doctor if he thinks
adhesions could be wrapping around my colon and causing the pain and the small
snake like stools. He said he would have seen some damage inside the colon
when he did the colonoscopies. I loose weight also. I have a friend who is
diagnosed with spastic colon who wears a 2X. She also has loose stools, but
it hits her and she goes. Mine starts with extreme sickening pain and I cannot go
until the bowel gets free. I try to tell the doctors, they just think it is
stress. I have had some good years, but this one has been extremely bad. I
too feel someday the bowel will obstruct. I also have a rectocel but the
OB doctor doesn't think it is that bad at this point. I just live with pain,
and look for restrooms. Try to live as normal a life as possible. What do you
think.!! Oh, when I have the contrations, they are low where the bikini cut
was made for the tubal ligation.!!!!
