When i had surgery in Nov 2001 for adhesions..i had 2 incisions one near my Belly Button and one..on the original Hysterectomy scar..2 days post op i called my surgeon and asked for a refill on vicodin which i had been on for 1 yrs pre -op..he said a resounding NOPE and referred me to a methadone clinic, which scared the WATER out of me..and so i took what vicodin i had left and that was that..i had no more pain and absolutely no withdrawal symptoms whatsoever...so i tend to believe the theory about persons who are in dire pain like we are dont truly completely become addicted...to the meds. Of course since Jan 2002 i have been back on them because the pain returned with a vengence..and now if they try to take my pain meds away..i would probably act like an addict...it wouldnt be pretty .hehe This is just my story..were all different..but i dont think we should worry about addiction..we just have to do what we have to do ..right?
