Robin,

Might I suggest that someone visit some of the area businesses to get some donations from them and have an auction at this dinner? My church had a fundraiser from me almost ten years ago. They got things from some of the local factories...i.e., a shop vacuum or two, a set of wicker lawn chairs, a whole load of free dinners at various eating establishments and one of my brother's donated a fishing charter. This was just a small portion of the things that were donated. Perhaps they could contact some of the professional sports teams...I would guess it would be the Broncos and Rockies, etc. for donations. We had numerous Packer items. The dinner itself wasn't much....it was chili and hotdogs...I believe they charged $4. I don't know what religion you are, but the Lutherans have a insurance company, Lutheran Brotherhood that will match up to a certain dollar amount..but this has to be applied for in advance. There used to be two companies, but LB bought out the other. Even banks can make donations....savings bonds, etc. Perhaps this is already in the works for you. I just thought I would offer up some suggestions.

Good Luck,
