Dear Kelly,

I am so sorry to hear of all of your pain...main thing to know is that you are not alone, many of us are in the same boat as you. Hopefully it is the abcess causing pain and not adhesions, maybe you will have relief after Friday? In the meantime there is loads of information on this site that you can research, both by links provided and by searching through the archives. If you go to the Adhesions Quilt, you will quickly see that there is no easy answer when it comes to adhesions. I am 33, had 3 surgeries in 2 years and with each surgery the adhesion pain has come back faster and stronger. I will avoid surgery unless I have a bowel obstruction or to the point where I cannot manage the pain through medication. The risk of complications becomes greater and greater with every surgery and at this point I am not willing to give up any of the health I have left.

Are you currently on any pain meds, what are the chances of your going to see a pain specialist?

It has taken me a good 2 1/2 years to accept this disease and to begin working on the things I can change rather than the things I cannot to the degree I am now. There is a book I have mentioned before that deserves mentioning over and over called Full Catastrophe Living, by Jon Kabat-Zinn. It is a wonderful book written for people with chronic pain.

This may sound backwards but my life is so much richer and I appreciate so much more than I ever did before. Because of it I became a massage therapist and I love my work, because of it I have become so much closer to my family and because of it I realize how precious every moment of life is and really treasure the things in it.

We are here for you Kelly...Big hugs to you,

Janet
