Dear Chrissie:

My co-worker is a foster mom, and I'll be darned if the first little girl (10 months) that was placed with her, the parents ended up not wanting her back and they are now adopting her. I know this is a stressful situation because you can get so attached to a child only to have them taken away, and the hurt and lost love must be so horrendous to have to go through, but you never know unless you give it a chance; you may get lucky and end up being able to adopt the child after caring for them for a while. You can also make specifications as to how young you want them and how much, let's say, trauma they have been through (poor little things). My ex (almost forgot that part, I am no longer working) co-worker now has two adopted babies, one 16 year old foster child that she will keep until 18 and two other little boys that she is keeping. How she does it, I'll never know, but she says she loves it. So, perhaps this may be an avenue for you to look into. You have so much love to share, that you would make any child so happy to just be near you.

Love ya,

Helen C.
