Dear IAS Members:

I recently got news of a board certified Pain Management Specialist who is willing to help ARD sufferers in the PA area or any area of the US (those that are willing to travel). He is located near Scranton. I have personally spoken to him myself on the phone and he seems very caring and willing to help all ARD sufferers with their pain (including narcotic pain medication, if so deemed). He is a very caring doctor who believes that adhesions do cause pain and is willing to help counsel patients from the International Adhesion Society over the internet in their pain management. He will help them in their medications and also can provide pain blocks for certain areas (including pelvic sympathetic blocks that may help endometriosis patients). Obviously he cannot prescribe medication over the internet, but he can be extremely helpful with counseling and helping people with the right combination of meds to wean them off large narcotic loads and on their way to recovery after an adhesiolysis procedure.

Since he may not actually "see" patients he will need to charge people for his expertise and time. (how this will actually work, I don't know, but I am sure the logistics would be worked out over the phone or via e-mail). I cannot post his name directly to the board as this would be promoting a physician's practice.

If anyone is interested, I can act as the go between and can release his name to those individuals that would be interested in seeing him or receiving counseling over the internet. He has also said that he would be willing to act as a pain advocate for those that are having difficulties with their doctors in understanding adhesion pain and treating it accordingly for those awaiting surgery or after surgery and are continuing to have problems with ARD.

Sincerely,

Helen Chalmers 410-477-8034
