Dearest Sally:

I agree with Deborah, most of us are on some sort of narcotic pain medication before surgery and have had surgery with Dr. Redan. I was not told to wean myself off of any medication before surgery,as this was allowing me to live and not suffer before the surgery. I could not have weaned myself off before surgery; I would have been in too much agony and would not even been able to have made the trip to PA. I really don't quite understand this comment at all. Does he feel that you have been on pain medication too long? Well, when there are no alternatives but to have surgery after surgery and only have the adhesions return, there seems to be no alternative but to stay on medication to survive on a daily basis. There are many that are on the amount of medication that you are on and go on to have surgery, and if the surgery works, the medication stops, if the surgery doesn't work, we must go back on the pain medication to live or suffer.

Love,

Helen Chalmers
