I can still open .doc files in wordpad but sometimes it loses some of it's formatting. Some people can't for some reason, and I know Helen couldn't open mine or Bev's which we made in Microsoft Word.
Maybe you could try opening it in Wordpad instead of Word and saving it directly from there so it is an original Wordpad document and see if it makes a difference for her.
There are other formats like text etc. you could try if formatting doesn't matter. Jean . . .
