Karen,

I have painin the exact areas that you are talking about. Three years ago I had an ectopic pregnancy on my left side. We were trying to save my only fallopian tube so the doctors gave me Methotrexate to dissolve the pregancy. That about killed me because I am totally against abortion and I felt like I was killing my baby. I know that we would of both died and have dealt with that. Anyway, about a 2 1/2 weeks after all the injections were over, I was still experiencing some horrible pain. They said I had a huge cyst on the left ovary. They wer going to do a laproscope and take it off. I woke up with a laparotomy. I was covered in adhesions. They cleaned me out. Eleven months later I was in the ER with pain in the same are and what they thought was a hemmorrhagic cyst. It ended up being my fallopian tube was full of fluid and curled up and had attached itself to my bowels. The doctor thinks maybe another tubal pregnancy may have caused the swelling in the tube. Then with in 7 months, I had pain in the same area again. Pain in the left lower quadrant and in the groin area. Finally after 3 months in February 2000, they did surgery. It was adhesions again. They removed a soft-ball sized mass and this time they had to remove 3 inches of my colon too. Two weeks after the surgery, I actually had one week of feeling good. Then the pain returned. There was another cyst on the left ovary. We tried hormones to shrink it but it didn't work. I had endometriosis real bad too. Not only was the pain in the lower left side, but I kept telling my husband that my butt hurt. And I had pain down the back of both legs. So finally I had had enough and told my doctor I wanted a hysterectomy. I wanted an end to the pain. SO June 16,2000 I had a total hysterectomy. My docotr said I had the worst case of adhesions he had seen in his 10 years of practice. Also the adhesions were wrapped around my rectum and had bent it down at a 45 degree angle. I really thought it would be over with the hysterectomy and all. But I never fully got rid of the pain. Of course they said it was that I was healing and all. I have been in bed now for 2 weeks with horrible pain in the exact same spots. Yes I hurt in the labia and vagina areas too sometimes. Mostly in the groin and lower left side. I know what it is again. I am going to the doctor on Tuesday. We will see what they decide to do. I just want relief. Pain meds don't do it. Hang in there and be persistant. I got some real good advice from this board. I was told to educate myself on the disease so it will help me when I talk to my doctor. That is exactly what I have done. So now I am going in prepared. I can now help in the planning of whatever treatments we decide to do. Don't lose faith. There are still some good doctors out there. Have confidence in yourself too. It is not in your head and you are not alone. If you need to talk or vent, you have a bunch of good listeners who understand. Feel free to email me privately too if you want. Take care and keep your head up! I am learning that if you let it get the best of you then you are already defeated. You will win!
