I also have GERD. After 1 1/2 years of treatment my doctor was concern because will diet changes and medication I was still having problems. An Upper GI show a Hiatal Hernia. If not treat can cause other problems. Also a low fiber diet which I am on because I had IBS and adhesion can cause more problems with hiatal Hernia. I found found several good sites on GERD and Hiatal Hernia email me if you are interested. I am not as good as Helen. I also had high cholestrol. Low fiber diets and inactivity because of pain and not laziness contributes to High cholestrol. So again one problem creates another.
