Re: Mineral oil...the honest truth!!!

I have also read this about mineral oil interfering with the absorption of nutrients. However, it is true that they prescribe it in toddlers with bowel problems. My daughter (now 20) had a bowel problem and the pediatrician prescribed mineral oil. I worried about what I had read but of course never asked him about it. Then just recently a friend's pediatrician prescribed it for a toddler for a similar problem, so they are still prescribing it in young children. So I am kind of curious about if there is a problem with it or not. Personally I'd have to be really desperate as the thought of drinking mineral oil gives me the willies, but I never have a constipation problem so I guess its easy for me to talk, right?

(5 of those caplets a day with my largest meal which is lunch) so I can't afford to lose any nutrients. I, like you Ginny, can't afford it, although I don't believe I have Crohn's but, I do not eat well so I MUST take sups. I'll let you know what happens. Take care gang, we can get through ANYTHING as long as we hang together!!

>>>Sherry, thanks loads for the extra info. I suffer VERY badly from constipation and am on a regimen using Senekot (sp?) from my P.M. dr. I STILL feel like I am being sliced into when I go even though I am on this regimen. I am buying a bottle tonight and start! I can't wait! It will be soooo nice to be regular again and HOPEFULLY, little or no pain when I DO go. And yes, who would have thought we would be talking about "to go or not to go, that is the question" tee hee hee!! Love and prayers to all.
