Hi Ellen,

Welcome to the forum. I don't know about diverticulitis however today I was diagnosed with Crohn's after ten years of test and surgeries for adhesions and adenomyosis. The GI told me today that when I am in an active state with the Crohn's it can inflame both the interior and exterior of the bowel and if you have adhesions as well, then you can end up in a whole heap of pain as both can constrict the bowel. It took me two pcp's and three gi's and tons of test to finally get a firm diagnosis, not to mention to find someone who listened. It was with the support of this forum that I was able to be firm with my doctors and get them to follow through. I have been through the condescending doctors and I don't think they will be the ones to help you. Find someone who will listen to you. For me they have prescribed an anti inflammatory medication called Asacol and an anti-depressant in a mild form to help with the pain. We are going to wait and see if this gets things in control before going through surgery again cause as you know adhesions are like kudzu, they just keep coming back stonger than before. Best wishes to you and keep in touch. Ginny
