I have never had the side effect from Demerol that you experienced, but that doesn't mean it does not happen. I would mention this to your doctor. As I wrote before, I received and pill the night before and an injection just prior to my surgery. This does help. Be careful though, as I'm sure you know many of the pain medications they give you after surgery can make you sick as well. I have trouble with anything that has codiene and with morphine. I think it was Chris who said that she tells them that she is allergic to codiene. I do the same thing eventhough it is not a true allergy but I have found that if you don't say you are "allergic" they give it to you in some form anyway. There is nothing worse than having abdominal surgery and then spending the next days throwing up. Good luck and take care. Ginny
