Helen,

I take levsin 4 x a day before meals and if I have severe cramping. It is called an anticolnergic which basically means it slows down the gut. There are times that it works and times that it does not - you will just have to see if it works for you. During a severe attack - I will put one or two under the tongue for faster relief.
