I have had endometriosis and many surgeries...successful removal by Dr Nezhat in atlanta 1998 and did well until 2009 when I developed a partial bowel obstruction. Eventually saw Dr Semertszides who at laparoscopy found my bowel is adhered to my left iliac vein. He had to go back in with laparotomy a few weeks later but was only able to free up a kink but had to stop as he felt damage to the vessel was likely to occur. This would disrupt blood flow to my left leg. That was in 2010, january. this spring i felt back to square one with weekly severe bouts of pain. I have a wonderful GI doc who put me on amitiza to help my bowel to empty almost daily, but now I still have attacks 1 or 2 times a month where I nearly pass out. No one wants to touch me unless I am critically ill but when I have these attacks I fear death from a rupture , the pain is so intense I nearly throw up and pass out. As a nurse, i wonder if the colon could be resected around the adhesions and then reattached back together? Dr Semertsides wasnt much help last time I spoke to him as you know he has no surgical privileges any more. I live in the Louisville Kentucky area. would really like another surgeon who understands the adhesion issue to sit down with me. I fear getting into an emergency situation and either dying or being critically ill from a rupture. but no one locally wants to even discuss it with me

Patricia, You have my sympathy.  You sound alot like me. The only advise I can give you at this point is have pain management.  I would not get another surgery unless you have a blockage.  I have a pain pump which helps some but I still have alot of pain and digestive issues but you don't get the side affects from taking the oral meds. I hope you can get some relief.
