Dr. Bernd-Uwe Sevin, Gynecology, Oncology and Obstetrics, Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, FL repaired an umbilical hernia on my friend and me. We had both herniated twice before but the mesh used by other doctors wouldn't hold. Dr. Sevin used Dura Mater (look it up) to secure our abdominal wall. He put a double layer of Dura Mater to secure my abdominal wall. Although my friend hasn't herniated anymore, Dr. Sevin told her he wished he had used two layers on her. She wears an abdominal binder. I don't use a binder. He taught medicine at the University of Miami and has been a surgeon 38 plus years. He is a very personable and caring doctor.
