Everytime I say anything that might be seen as a risk or concern after having a hysterectomy gets removed and I get banned.

We are talking about women and young girls asking if there is anyone out there who has any information about the risks or down side to having a hysterectomy. these women want to know more as they should. But the websites stop anyone from speaking...(if its negative towards the surgery).

Sabrina,

I have visited hystersisters a few times but I have never posted anything. So were your posts just not accepted? I'm a bit surprised as I always got the impression that hystersisters was neither for or against hysterectomies but I guess I haven't spent that much time on the site.

I do think that the medical system as a whole is back in the dark ages when it comes to hysterectomy- I myself had one that I knew wouldn't help because I could tell that my problems were due to issues OUTSIDE the organs (uterus, bowels, bladder) and was led to believe I'd have an exploratory at the same time, but since the doctor was so late due to having to deliver a baby, I don't think he bothered and that is why he refused to sit down with me for any discussion post-op. And in today's allopathic medical system, it is all about specializing in one organ or another and being totally blind to the body as a whole- which is why docs are so quick to recommend things like hysterectomy ('female castration' as Mary Lou Ballweg, President of the Endometriosis Association, calls it!)and of course I am sure that making big bucks is part of it.

I recently went to a gyno whose website said he was a pelvic pain and endo specialist (I saw his name on the Hystersisters site, in fact, for endo specialists). Anyway, I told him this- that I knew the hysterectomy wouldn't help but I was hoping they would see what was going on outside the uterus- and I could see him wince immediately! And all he was willing to do was check my hormone levels. On my follow-up, he went through my hormone levels speaking at a pace of about 100 miles an hour, then told me to come back in a year, then literally ran out the door with no discussion whatsoever about pelvic pain or possible endo. I definitely get the impression that if you've had a hysterectomy, many gynos have little or no interest in having you as a patient, probably because they know they won't have the opportunity to make big bucks off of you doing a surgery that you often hear is the most unnecessary surgery performed!

I my case, the hysterectomy did nothing but cause what I believe was an abcess or fistula that caused me great discomfort for years after the surgery. But again, I knew it wouldn't help, but like I said I was led to believe I'd have an exploratory at the same time so it was all for nothing. I have heard of hysterectomies also causing endo- besides possible regular adhesions- which is another topic I'm sure many gynos would prefer nobody know about!
