My best friend who is an RN and in charge of a home health care. She said natural vegetable laxatives work well for the elderly. They can take several and it won't hurt them(natural vegetable). I buy the store brand and they work fine. Also, if one eats greens (mustard, collard, broccoli, etc.) daily it helps to keep the bowels moving. I believe in colonics if one is really bound. I was a few years ago and colonics was recommended to me. I went for several cleanses and it took a BIG LOAD off me. An MRI showed feces stuck to my colon. It somewhat like old pipes where stuff gets stuck and it's hard to get it loose. http://www.colonicwithcare.com is a colonics place here in Jacksonville. I asked my doctor at the colon clinic if he believes in getting colon cleanses and he said they don't work. Well, I would expect him to say that. We've all heard the story of John Wayne who died of cancer. He had 44 lbs. of feces stuck to his colon wall. If one keeps their colon clean, I believe it could prevent colon cancer.

It seems that anything solid just won't leave my body. I have the urges but it just won't come out, then I end up with hemorrhoids and sooner or later start throwing up. Visits to the ER usually end up that I'm just constipated and they give me a laxative, so I don't go anymore.
