AP stands for posterior perineorrhaphy. Its part of pelvic prolapse repair. I get on my hobby horse often about how simple non surgical treaments like pessiaries are underused because they are "old fashioned". They may be old fashioned, but they're cheap, comfortable, easy to use and they're a great way to avoid more surgery.

Easy to insert, easy to maintain. Take them out and boil them every few weeks.Come in latex and non latex silicone rubber. Most docs to not even offer them as an alternative. Think women are too stupid to insert something in there, I guess (like we don't use tampons! Jeeze!) Sorry, I get a bit rabid about that, forgive me-LOL!
