Diet cannot affect the formation of bowel obstruction. However, a high fiber (and low animal protein) diet will keep things moving faster and you will feel better. Nothing will be getting "stuck" near the narrow area. I avoided surgery for a year by doing this. Unfortunately, the disease progresses and relief doesn't work indefinitely. Eventually, I had to resort to magnesium citrate to empty my bowels. It liquifies everything so it can pass through the ever narrowing areas.
