My understanding is you can have adhesions in an abdomen without having
a prior abdominal surgery. Of course, surgery is the most common
reason, but there are others. Examples include: endometriosis that
bleeds (it is uterine tissue that responds to monthly hormones
regardless of it NOT being in the uterus like it should be), blunt
trauma to the abdomen (car accident for example) where there might be
blood leakage from damaged small blood vessels before they seal
themselves off), infections in the abdomen (one example is a sexually
transmitted disease that can travel into the abdomenal cavity). There
