I had surgery in nov of 03 @ John Hopkins University Hospital and the Dr. used a barrier called interceed over my left overy. exaactly 4 wks post op the pain was back of course and I scheduled surgery once again. This time though they went in and very few bowel adhesions were present anot anything that would explain the amt of pn i was in. It is now 2 wks post op and i dont feel any better then i did before surgery. Horrible pain and my Gyn doc thought i was crazy and my pain was psycosomatic, you know "in my head". I am a nurse and have a full understanding of psycosomatic pain and that is NOT what my problem is.
My primary care Dr. agreed and sent me to a pain specialist and it appears I have nerve damage to my abd. and pelvic nerve plexus' due to excessive adhesions in tha past as well as all of the surgeries in this past year. I am going to have a a hypogastric nerve block done and am optomistic it will relieve my pain at least temporarily and enable me to stop the use of all these narcotics. Im not sure if this helps you or not but I feel for you and your wife because I my husband and I know exactly what you are going through and God bless men like you and my husband for all of your patients through all of this because I know how difficult it is for you guys too and you feel as helpless as us women do. Anyway take care and I wish you the both the the best!
